Just Released - Get it here!
Hello everyone!
I’m so excited to release Queenless, a game of solo exploration where you are a Bee sent on a perilous journey to save your hive. You’ll encounter other insects like Dragonfly who protects those who are weak and in need, or the vain Ladybird, who cares not for what happens to other insects. But watch out for Sparrow, a shadow, and then death.
This game has been a pleasure to write and design. I was inspired by watching bees busily buzz from flower to flower in our garden and it hit me: What worlds, quests, and lives do these industrious creatures have? Do they love? Do they fear? (I mean I know they don’t actually have quests but it was fun to imagine).
And that led me to Queenless and the great Firelights system by Fari RPGs. In Queenless you’ll explore the valley, meeting other insects along the way. Your aim is to recover six jars of royal jelly, which your hive will use to raise another Queen. Some insects are friends, such as the Ants who share much in common with the Bees. But some are deadly foes, like the Praying Mantis, who would like nothing more than to eat you up little Bee.
“The writing is beautiful and whimsical, and I felt very invested in this world right from the get-go.” - Lucienne Impala
“Queenless was my first Solo Roleplay experience, and it was super easy to get into, a well-realized world that helps facilitate the story. 10/10” - Eldrich Gremlin
Queenless is built as a solo game from the start with tables, exploration, and other mechanics that will keep you interested and challenge your little bee as it explores the valley on its quest. The core mechanic is based on Firelights, where you use a deck of cards and dice to determine success, partial success, or failure. You flip two cards and compare them to a dice roll+stats. Easy to figure out and resolve.
I hope you enjoy Queenless and be sure to check it out on my itch page here.
Oh, and a fun note: Reviews, purchases, and tips over the asking price will add more community copies.
If you want to get a feel for Queenless, keep an eye on my blog where I’ll be playing a short campaign of it.
